Church Planting
Church Planting
Avant’s goal is to plant and develop mature, reproducing churches led by national believers. Our church planting principles and metrics provide a snapshot of a church’s growth, helping inform our strategy and guide next steps as we pursue our vision: missionally healthy churches among the unreached.
Avant’s definition of a new church
A group of believers meeting together regularly who recognize they are a local representation of the Body of Christ and who are organized to carry out God’s will.
Once a group meets the qualifications of a new church, the team begins using the Healthy Church Metrics to measure progress and growth.
Avant's definition of a healthy church
Over time, we aim to see these thirteen characteristics present in every church we help establish:
-
People being saved
-
Disciples making disciples
-
Believers maturing
-
Biblically qualified elders
-
Scripture as the final authority
-
Governance independent of missionaries
-
Healthy body life
-
Locally funded ministry
