Care is at the heart of who we are; it’s a core value of Avant, the first word in our tagline, and a promise to our members: We invest in the long-term health and well-being of our missionaries so that they can invest in the eternity of others.

Missionaries often serve far from family and familiar support networks, making consistent, personal care especially valuable. Many tell us they chose Avant because of the relational care our members experience while serving. From caring for missionary kids and retirees to providing access to counseling and responding to emergencies, we want our members to know they do not have to navigate the challenges of life and ministry alone.

When a fire forced one missionary family to leave the field unexpectedly, our member care team quickly reached out. “During a difficult and uncertain time, we felt seen, prayed for, and, most importantly, not alone,” the family shared.

After returning to North America, they spent a couple of days at Avant’s home office processing their experience. Their teenage daughters especially felt loved and cared for by the MK care team during this unexpected transition.

Reflecting on that support, the family shared, “What truly sets [Avant] apart is their genuine, personal care. They don’t simply provide resources or respond to crises; they build relationships and intentionally walk alongside us through both the joys and challenges of missionary life, whether on the field or back home.”

Through regular conversations, our member care team listens, prays, and helps missionaries and their families address challenges before they become crises. Other times, care means responding to the unexpected.
