The steps will vary for each church.  Here is a list of steps that was used by one Joint Venture church, reflecting individual phases of team selection, field selection, team development and deployment. 

  • Step 1 - Gauge interest

o       Scheduled around missions conference

o       Allowed individuals to sign up for information

  • Step 2 - Narrow the field

o       Reviewed Applications

o       Selected members to participate in an international vision trip

  • Step 3 - Train for Trip (If choosing a vision trip)

o       Taught biblical principles

o       Provided overview of Short-Cycle Church Planting

o       Created team building exercises

o       Facilitated cross-cultural ministry courses

  • Step 4 - Provide Exposure

o       Visited several Avant fields

  • Step 5 - Deliver the Challenge

o       Challenged trip participants to join the Short-Cycle team

o       Provided an opportunity for participants and other congregants to accept

o       Teaches Short-Cycle principles

o       Teaches Cross cultural ministry

  • Step 9 - Team Training

o       Unity among team members

o       Field Preparation

  • Step 10 - Commissioning

o       Church Schedules Commissioning Service
