Ministry Description
Teaching at short-term Bible Institutes, as well as Sunday School teacher training and theological education by extension. Ministries to women, youth,and children are needed. Areas of ministry are in the Coastal Plains, High Mountains, and Amazon Jungle.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching, training, guiding and coaching the development of church leaders in the above-mentioned ministries.
  • Travel is required, being away from home for one or two weeks at a time.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Willingness to start as a learner, yet confident in God’s timing to bring fruit from your labor.
  • Ability to adapt to another culture.
  • A love for people.
  • Graduate studies are a plus, but not necessary.
  • Practical experience in local church setting or teaching experience is recommended.
  • Previous cross-cultural experience is a plus.

Language
Ability to communicate in Spanish is a must; learning Quichua, Shuar, or Achuar (depending on ministry emphasis) later on will be beneficial.

Experience and Training Needed
Avant requires education or training appropriate for the specific ministry in which the candidate will be engaged.  For those serving longer than six months, completion of the Avant Candidate Orientation Program is also required.  It is expected that applicants will have demonstrated their abilities in Christian service prior to application.  A good working knowledge of the Bible is required for all personnel.
