Ministry Description
This ministry would be with the Spanish speaking and/or Quichua speaking people and involves travel to diverse locations to minister to various groups of present and future church leaders. The goal of this ministry is to train lay
leaders and pastors who are not able to attend formal residential programs of study. There are opportunities to teach theological education by extension, which provides Biblical training/education at an introductory level. Areas of
ministry are in the Coastal Plains, High Mountains, and Amazon Jungle.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties will be split evenly between:
- Training on-site
- Materials preparation
- Mentoring/counseling via telephone
- Hospitality of leaders in your home.
Skills and Qualifications
- Willingness to start as a learner, yet confident in God’s timing to bring fruit from your labor.
- Ability to adapt to another culture.
- A love for people.
- Graduate studies are a plus, but not necessary.
- Practical experience in local church setting or teaching experience is recommended.
- Previous cross-cultural experience is a plus.
Language
Ability to communicate in Spanish is a must; learning Quichua, Shuar, or Achuar later on will be beneficial.
Experience and Training Needed
Avant requires education or training appropriate for the specific ministry in which the candidate will be engaged. For those serving longer than six months, completion of the Avant Candidate Orientation Program is also required. It is expected that applicants will have demonstrated their abilities in Christian service prior to application. A good working knowledge of the Bible is required for all personnel.
