Ideally Long-Term, but also needed for this summer

Ministry Description
Wranglers will assist in the maintenance and caring for the camp horse herd. Should be someone who understands and agrees with the philosophy and policies of the camp, demonstrates spiritual and emotional maturity and a consistent walk with God. Desires to see campers come to know the Lord and is willing to forgo personal rights for the common good of the camp and campers. Willingness to perform other non-assignment tasks when necessary. Eager to learn, love kids and is flexible to work with campers as well as other staff members.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment and facilities
  • Attend to the health of the horses
  • Maintain all trails for safe riding
  • Learn trail rides ( both retreat and regular camp seasons)
  • Teach horsemanship classes
  • Carry-out Horse Camp ( Teaching kids with varying knowledge of horses/horsemanship basic skills to improve their knowledge and understanding of horses)
  • Responsible for horses program volunteers
  • Keep a daily log
  • Attend Echo Ranch staff meetings

Skills and Qualifications

  • General equestrian knowledge
  • Experience with horses
  • Horsemanship skills
  • CHA certification desired but not required
  • Some program knowledge desired but not required  

Experience and Training Needed
Avant requires education or training appropriate for the specific ministry in which the candidate will be engaged. It is expected that applicants will have demonstrated their abilities in Christian service prior to application.  A good working knowledge of the Bible is required for all personnel.
