Scott Harris
Vice President of Field Ministries
A veteran missionary, Scott Harris became Avant's vice
president of field ministries in 2002. Before Avant, his missions career began with
SIM at the ELWA Radio campus in Liberia.
After evacuating from Liberia
during a civil war in 1990, he joined SIM's U.S. home staff. Scott served in
various capacities for SIM including recruitment, assistant to the US Director, leadership development and director
of the West Africa field. Scott graduated from
Grace University
in Omaha, Nebraska,
in 1984 with a bachelor of science in Bible. He has served as an associate
pastor and interim senior pastor at Temple
Baptist Church
in Omaha, and as interim pastor at Community Bible
Church in Sabetha, Kansas.
He and his wife, Jolyn, have been married for more than 35 years and have two
married daughters and two grandsons.
