Ministry Description
Assists with a variety of maintenance needs including grounds keeping, mechanical repair, and residential and ministry facility upkeep.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Gardening: Maintain and repair lawn areas, shrubs, trees, and flowers on the MMC grounds.
• Autos: Maintain and repair MMC owned vehicles.  When necessary, coordinate repairs with local mechanic.  On occasion, will be asked to assist with the maintenance or repair of staff owned vehicles.
• General Building Needs: Responsible for the upkeep and repair of MMC owned and occupied buildings (including both office and residential). May include electrical wiring, plumbing, and painting.
• Small Construction Projects:  Assist with small construction projects.
• Projects vary and may include carpentry, cement work, and electrical wiring.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned depending on current needs of MMC.

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience in at least one of the above areas is essential.
• Ability to creatively problem solve in an unfamiliar environment.  (For example, user manuals may not be available in English, electrical wiring and building construction may differ, etc.)
• Desire to assist wherever needed.
• Willingness to take direction and operate as part of a team.
• Ability to take initiative, work independently and handle multiple tasks.
• Cross-cultural experience is desired, but not necessary.

Language
English essential.  Spanish study strongly encouraged upon arrival on field.  Study prior to the field is beneficial.

Experience and Training Needed
Avant requires education or training appropriate for the specific ministry in which the candidate will be engaged.  For those serving longer than six months, completion of the Avant Candidate Orientation Program is also required.  It is expected that applicants will have demonstrated their abilities in Christian service prior to application.  A good working knowledge of the Bible is required for all personnel.

Málaga Media Center exists to creatively use media to present Biblical truth until the Church has been established. MMC was started in 1968 with a focus on North Africa through a print shop, radio studio and Bible correspondence course. Throughout the years, the outreach of MMC expanded to include television programs, short-term Bible schools, music seminars, internet, and telephone counseling. In addition, MMC now has a video ministry in Spanish. Málaga Media Center is located on the outskirts of Málaga, Spain, a city of approximately 600,000 people. Málaga is on the Mediterranean and is only 2 ½ hours from Morocco. At MMC English is the primary language spoken; however, Spanish is helpful for daily life. Most MMC workers with no previous Spanish will be asked to enroll in a Spanish language course either prior to or upon arrival. Some MMC staff members will also need ability in Arabic.
