Armani, Gucci, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Chianti, Michelangelo,
Da Vinci. These are names that have driven and define their respective fields. They are all Italian. Italy
is a culture of influence; the fingerprints of Italian culture permeate the Western world.
Yet for the most part, Italians have remained untouched by
the gospel of Jesus Christ. They live in a "Christian" culture; but in name
only. A historically Christian nation, today less than 10 percent of Italians attend
Catholic mass monthly. And of the more than 35,000 cities, towns, and villages
in Italy,
less than 1,500 have an evangelical church.
Recognizing the potential global impact of an Italian
renewal for Christ, Avant Ministries is sending a team of nine
missionaries to
the city of Genoa, Italy, where fewer than 1400 of the city's 700,000
people have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Their vision: To ignite an explosive network of reproducing churches that will
transform Genoa, the country of Italy, and the world.
Because of Genoa's location and industry, a network of
Italian-led, rapidly reproducing churches will not only change the eternal
destiny of thousands of Italians but will impact the entire Mediterranean
region and beyond.
Ignited for Christ, these churches would become internationally influential for the Kingdom of Jesus
Christ. Team Italy is scheduled to arrive in Genoa in the fall of 2007.
